Billing Examples

Example One

Assume the client’s business bandwidth is relatively stable, and the steady bandwidth is about 6Mbps, the region is Guangzhou, and the usage period is one month.

  • Standard bandwidth billing
    It is advised to purchase a fixed bandwidth that is 10%-20% higher than the steady bandwidth, which means purchasing a fixed bandwidth of 7Mbps.
    Cost = (3.57 USD/Mbps/month * 5Mbps + 14.29 USD/Mbps/month * 2Mbps) * 1 month = 46.43 USD
  • Traffic billing
    Rate: 6Mbps = 0.75MB/second, then the total usage volume for a month = 0.75MB/second * 30 days * 24 hours * 3,600 seconds/hour = 1,944,000MB = 1,898.438GB
    Public IP address price: 4.29 USD/month
    Cost = 1,898.438GB * 0.11 USD/GB + 4.29 USD/month = 221.26 USD

Conclusion
The cost of the standard bandwidth billing is 46.43 USD, which is less than the cost of the traffic billing of 221.26 USD.
That is, for users with relatively stable business bandwidth, the cost of using the “standard bandwidth” billing mode is lower than that of using the “traffic billing” mode.

Example Two

Suppose that the user’s business has relatively large fluctuations for about 10% of the time every day. That is, the bandwidth can reach 7Mbps for 2.4 hours, and the public network bandwidth is not used for the rest of the time. The region is Guangzhou, and the usage period is one month.

  • Standard bandwidth billing
    It is advised to purchase a fixed bandwidth that is 10%-20% higher than the steady bandwidth, which means purchasing a fixed bandwidth of 9Mbps.
    Cost = (3.57 USD/Mbps/month * 5Mbps + 14.29 USD/Mbps/month * 4Mbps) * 1 month = 75 USD
  • Traffic billing
    Rate: 7Mbps = 0.875MB/second, then the total usage volume for a month = 0.875MB/second * 30 days * 2.4 hours * 3,600 seconds/hour = 226,800MB = 221.48GB
    Cost = 221.48GB * 0.11 USD/GB = 25.31 USD

Conclusion
The cost of standard bandwidth billing is 75 USD, which is greater than the cost of traffic billing of (25.31) USD.
That is, for users with relatively large business bandwidth fluctuations, the cost of using the “traffic billing” mode is lower than that of using the “standard bandwidth” mode.
